Rhinoplasty
A Rhinoplasty, or a nose job, aims to improve nasal symmetry and address any nasal airway issues. While a seemingly straightforward procedure, selecting a skilled surgeon is crucial for lasting results given the delicate nature of the face.
Harmony boasts a team of experienced plastic surgeons dedicated to delivering quality and professional treatment, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients.
When to have a Rhinoplasty?
In addition to personal motivations, various medical factors prompt individuals to undergo rhinoplasty. These include:
Disproportionately large nose in relation to other facial features.
Dissatisfaction with nose shape.
Deviated or crooked nose shape.
Breathing difficulties stemming from congenital issues or accidents.
At Harmony, our doctors carefully consider each factor and tailor appropriate treatments to address individual cases. We prioritise patient health with comprehensive pre-operative examinations.
Before Rhinoplasty:
Prior to undergoing rhinoplasty surgery, it's essential for patients to adhere to specific guidelines to ensure optimal results. Here are the important considerations:
Inform your doctors about any medications you are currently taking.
Disclose any chronic illnesses to your doctors.
Cease smoking or alcohol consumption at least 2 weeks before surgery.
Refrain from eating or drinking for 6-7 hours before the operation.
Report any allergies to medical products.
Discontinue use of aspirin, painkillers, herbal supplements, vitamins, and any other medications for 2 weeks prior to the operation.
Additionally, comprehensive examinations related to the rhinoplasty procedure will be conducted by your doctors to ensure your health and safety.
During Rhinoplasty:
The procedure varies depending on the type of rhinoplasty:
Tipplasty: Designed for individuals solely concerned with the nose tip and without issues regarding the nasal curve or breathing. Cartilage is added to the tip until the desired shape is achieved. This procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour.
General Rhinoplasty: Suited for individuals experiencing various concerns such as disproportionate nose size, curved nasal bones, and potential breathing difficulties. The procedure involves modifying nostrils and the nose tip if necessary, as well as sculpting nasal bones and adding cartilage as needed for desired size and shape. General anesthesia is administered, and the operation typically lasts between 1 to 1.5 hours.
After Rhinoplasty:
Following rhinoplasty surgery, adhering to specific guidelines is crucial for achieving optimal results and facilitating a rapid recovery. Here are essential post-operative instructions to follow:
Wear the provided nasal splint as instructed by your doctors.
Avoid blowing or wiping your nose.
Shower as directed by your doctors.
Refrain from extreme facial expressions, sneezing forcefully, or laughing vigorously.
Keep your head elevated above your chest in the first few days.
Take prescribed medications regularly and as directed by your doctors.
Avoid engaging in heavy sports activities during the first month following surgery.
Refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol.
Wear clothing that won't touch the surgical area.
Brush your teeth gently.
Avoid wearing glasses for the first 3 weeks after the operation.
Note: Swelling and tingling sensations are normal after surgery. You will be provided with painkillers to manage discomfort, and these symptoms typically subside within the first few days after the operation.
